Feel free to let me know what you would like to see implemented next.  I pretty much just look at the missing features and pick something that I think would be cool to have working.

For example for Build 0019 I specifically wanted the Complex completed, so I just slaved away on that until it was done and Wallah!

Also, if you need extra money or items, just ask!

Hi again,
Glad to found this site so just been posting away - always eager to chat about OOII.

Well, I don't want to open a big can of worms and I know there have been discussion before but what in theory could be done to improve/update the bases??  I can imagine you are trying to get the new 1.2 to run like 1.12 so totally new stuff is probably far off.

I guess it is similair to the stealing of crystals discussion.  With the online element it seems a matter of reaction to character actions whether it be online or offline.  Be able to defend a base invasion or being made known a base is under attack in some form would be awesome.

Maybe I am thinking of that game by EA Majestic where the game used your email address, AOL/Netscape/Yahoo IM, etc to connect with you from the game world to the real world.  I never played the game and don't know if any of that stuff actually worked or was worthwhile.

Without getting outside of the game world just yet I guess I would
hope that if I was logged in playing the game and one of my bases was under attack I could possibly be made aware of that either by radio equipment or a new piece of equipment carried and/or upgraded on the base.

Well, this post is long enough - sorry about that.  I can dream up too much that is mostly not implementable but I can still dream right?

The current plan is to re-implement all of the original Overkill features.  Once that's done we'll discuss the real-time multi-player elements we want to add like PvP and forms of group combat.

Once we have the basic game running again anything is possible. Smiley

We definatly want to add as much real-time player interaction as possible.  I definatly envision being able to attack, trade, and converse with players that are in your area.  (There is already a real-time global communication system.)

Eventually the game will be able to send players email in order to verify that they gave us a working email address.  I don't see why we couldn't extend that to send you email when something happens in the world.  The nice thing about proactive communication is that it serves as a reminder to players that they are playing the game. Currently you get all informs in real-time.  So anything that OOII currently tells you upon login you will receive immediately.  (For example if you are online and I start attacking your base, you'll know instantly.)

Don't give up the dream!  Dustin and Andrew often lament giving up on Wormhole.  I think everyone involved is commited to not letting such a thing happen again.  Maybe we'll never make a huge commercial MMO, but we've gotta keep following those dreams!

Sounds great!,

From a development viewpoint I can appreciate wanting to get OOIS doing what OOII did and then building on it.  I have built some database systems trying to get the functionality of the old system first before making improvement no matter how tempting or how many requests I got from the user group.  Doesn't help to have new cool features if the basic, required stuff isn't established and stable.

Yes, real-time comms and alerts is exciting.  Lately I'm playing Earth & Beyond to get a feel for current MMORPGs even if it's an early stab at it. The grouping of players is interesting and the dynamic elements give it an evolving feel.

Well I'm in the job hunt, like many people I suppose, and have free time so if you need to me to test certain things out I'd be happy to help.  I'll through in my Yahoo IM if that helps.  I have an old friend on dial-up that is an OOII junkie like me so when things get going you can count on one squardon being busy.
