Already Online (but not really...)

So here's the deal: My computer locked up on me (not because of OOIS) and I had to reboot.  Naturally, when I go to log back on, the server says I'm already online.  

I'm guessing this will eventually time out, but I wonder if there might be a way to avoid this problem.  I can see it be a possible issue even if your internet connection is intermittent.  Maybe some option to say "Yes, I'm a moron, let me back on." or something.

When this problem happened to me in the past, it would correct itself within a day.  This time, I haven't been able to log on since the middle of last week because it keeps saying that I'm already online.  Aaarrggh!  Is there anyway to deal with this from the user side?  How does the game handle extended (multi-day) inactivity?

I guess stability can be a bad thing.  I'm not sure why your connection never fully closes.  I might have to pray to the Linux gods for the answer to that.

There probably needs to be a timeout for this case though.  I'll reboot things so you can play again.
